Dreaming of the metropolis

Dreaming of the metropolis. Mixed media, 13x18

"Metropolis" was definitely an hard theme to think about. Metropolis are such wide spaces, where everything goes fast, and you can't focus on one single situation: there are bunch of stories which gets entangled in one another. So, what about an external point of view, from the outside? I wanted to add something deep and dreamy at the same time: so I though of a young teen who's greatest desire is to visit the Metropolis for excelence: New York. In the meanwhile she daydreams in her room, looking at the posters and pictures hung there.

Boys and their toys

This illustration came out from an idea of Stefania, who actually saw a scene like this while she was taking the bus to come back home. And since dachshunds are very short, I thought to take part also to the weekly theme of Illustration Friday, grounded.

Sketchavember 24/11/11

Yesterday I really had no time to post my sketchavember, you know: I was very busy the whole day, plus I had to nail well my thesis! I will re-do wednesday's sketch! In the meanwhile, here it is my super fast interpretation of the weekly theme of Illustration Friday, Vanity, which inspired me a lot.

IF- disguised

This was an old sketch (I love sketching foxes BTW, they are so funny!!), but I think it can fit well for the Iillustration Friday topic of this week;
Also, tomorrow it will be the 1th day of september, and soon it will start my top favorite season: autumn! I can wait to see all the colorful leaves and enjoy the crispy atmosphere of this period, I'm sure it's going to be inspiring (and full of work too, duh! I'm already working on the final thesis at the university)

The Sneaky Ninjas

When I read the weekly theme of Illustration Friday, Sneaky, it immediately came to my mind the fast and cunning ninjas, who populated myths and leggends from the ancient Japan...

It was the first time I tried to develop in a rush time an idea like this;
I had in mind a "zen" scene: very quite and tide, in which our sneaky charachters are acting, running on the roof of a pagoda or hidden in a bushel during the night, while a lovely japanese girl is enjoying the apparently calm evening...perhaps the ninjas are going to kidnap her? Could it be the incipit for a story?

Edit: I added much more moonlight to the scene, according to some suggestions!
